I met her on a dating site. She captured my interest right away and I have to admit to this day I still adore the picture she had on her profile. However misleading it was, it was beautiful. And her heart seemed to be made of gold which was a great bonus. Her profile described her as random, she loved to laugh and play and tickle and do various trips to different places. She seemed perfect. We agreed to meet at a cafe.

I waited in that cafe for a while, looking desperately for that beautiful face I couldn't help but adore. My heart was beating rapidly in anticipation, and then this plain lady walked up to me. I smiled politely before trying to look behind her for the lady for caught my eye and the plain looking woman looked around nervously.

Suddenly I felt a tickle go down my throat and to my heart.

It couldn't be her.

This lady was plainly obvious boring. There looked to not be a cm of spontaneity in her. This was the lady I had fantasized late at night about cuddling, and making her laugh, with lame jokes or my fantasy to tickle her in a romantic way. This was the lady I was supposed to adore?

This was all wrong. All so completely wrong. I quickly apologized and excused myself to leave... but saw her face fall dramatically and instantly felt bad. I had fallen for her... was I this shallow? I was that shallow. How awful and cruel of me.

It wasn't her fault she had a huge abnormal nose the picture had hidden. or that her hair fell flat which wasn't included in the picture. Or the fact that her skin was uneven and had little craters in them... Yes she had a heart of gold... but how could you love such a plain person?

I decided to have coffee with her though, and found the conversation to be quite delightful although somewhat awkward at first. We ended up becoming friends, and I ended up vowing to never use dating sites again and to meet ladies the old fashioned way. Hey! I'm big on personalities... but who'd wanna date a beast?
