Melissa was only four years old. She was a very stunning little girl with an imagination of eternity. She was an only child, but had a little cute puppy. She would stroke the puppy's hair, and tickle her belly. Melissa adored this puppy.

Melissa's mother Jennifer was very strict. She kept a very clean house, and would practically be swinging from the ceilings with energy. But, one day Jennifer became very ill. She must have caught the flu or something, because her energy was not what it normally was.

Melissa was bored and was tired of swinging on her swing set, when she asked her mother what she could do. Her mother was just lying on the couch with a pale expression on her face. Melissa got worried and decided she might need to do what they had taught her to do in case of an emergency.

She dialed the emergency department on her mother's cell phone, and the ambulance came. When they got there, they saw the house was spotless, and disregarded calling human services. Melissa was very frightened and decided that she wanted to go swinging on her swing set outside, when a lady came and told her to come with her. The lady said she would take Melissa somewhere safe, until her mother could care for her again. Melissa asked if her mother was going to be OK, and the lady ensured her that her mother would be just fine.

At the hospital, Jennifer was unconscious. She had been hooked up to IV saline solution for dehydration, and they began to run tests on her. Jennifer asked the doctors what was wrong with her, but they were unable to provide an immediate answer. They said they were going to keep her over night.

The next day, the doctors told Jennifer she was pregnant. She was about to miscarry the baby, but they put medicine in her IV last night to prevent her from losing the baby. Jennifer was excited because her husband had been wanting a baby.

He was scheduled to come home from war in a few weeks! When Jennifer picked up Melissa, she told Melissa that she was going to have another brother or sister. Melissa was very happy. When they got to the house, Melissa looked all over, but could not find her puppy.

The puppy was missing, and they never found her. Melissa became very sad and discouraged. But, Jennifer just simply told Melissa that she could get a new puppy. Melissa said in a small whisper " No, I have a little brother or sister coming!". She said that now she would have someone to go swinging with her outside! Melissa was now very happy!
